As your doctor helps you fight your disease, we at (un) cancer aim to help ease your journey through the treatment and recovery stages till you get back to your best life. It is our attempt to help you (un)do the stress and anxiety surrounding your cancer treatment and simplify routine decisions related to it. Created by board certified physicians and allied health professionals with extensive experience in cancer management, we endeavour to provide meaningful support to you and your caregiver. We look forward to partnering with you.

Abida Taher, MD, PhD

Dr Abida Taher is a board certified oncoradiologist who earned her MD and PhD degrees from Tulane University in New Orleans. She completed her Nuclear Medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and her Oncologic Imaging fellowship at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Dr Taher also completed a mini fellowship in Dementia Imaging from UCLA School of Medicine. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Nuclear Medicine and has been in private practice since 2009. When she is not working, Dr Taher enjoys hanging out with her husband, Nur and her kids Gibraan and Zoya.

I’ve been at the heart of the treatment for many cancer patients and have witnessed the many struggles you go through every day. With (un)cancer, I have made it my mission to democratize cancer care for patients and their caregivers and to make the journey to recovery as comfortable as possible. Being equipped with the right tools can transform your treatment process from one based on fear to one of strength and resilience and I hope with (un)cancer, I can do my part in bringing you the resources and information you need to power through your treatment and reclaim everyday living."

Robyn Lesser, DMD Board Certified Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Robyn is a native of Clearwater, Florida, and earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and her DMD from the University of Florida with honors in research. She also completed her pediatric residency at the University of Florida. Dr. Lesser is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She has been recognized by Tampa Bay Magazine as a top pediatric dentist in Tampa Bay. Dr. Lesser is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association®, the Florida Dental Association and the Hillsborough County Dental Association. She is also a member of Florida Blue Key and is currently president of Pedo Gators, the pediatric dental alumni association for the University of Florida. Dr. Lesser is a Fellow of the AAPD who contributes above and beyond in the field of pediatric and organized dentistry.Dr. Lesser enjoys volunteering in the schools to help educate children on good oral health. She has been in private practice in Tampa since 2002. When she is not working, she is busy with her husband, Gene, and two daughters, Sasha and Mila.

Pranav Loyolka, MD Board Certified Interventional Cardiologist

Dr. Pranav Loyalka is a board certified Cardiologist with Houston Heart in Houston, TX. Dr Loyalka began his medical studies at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. He went on to complete his Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He then finished his fellowship in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.

Dr Loyalka is fluent in English, Hindi, and German. Dr. Loyalka is board certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) as well as Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology, and Adult Congenital Heart Disease. Dr. Loyalka specializes in advanced heart failure and transplant, congenital heart disease, heart transplant, high-risk angioplasty, interventional cardiology, mechanical support and structural heart disease.

Dr Loyalka has participated and led many clinical research, presentations, and publications throughout his 20+ year career. He is an active member of the Texas Heart Institute Society, Musser Burch Society, and a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Alexandra Fucarino,MS, RD-AP, CSO, LD/N MS Board Certified Oncology Dietician

Alexandra Fucarino is an advanced practice registered dietitian (RD-AP) and board-certified specialist in oncology nutrition (CSO) with over 10 years of practice in the field of nutrition. She received her BS and MS in Food and Nutrition Science from Florida State University and completed her internship in clinical nutrition at the University of Delaware.

Alexandra strives to live a healthy lifestyle and believes in whole, nutritious foods that nourish our bodies. She is a current member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Florida Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as well as the Oncology Dietetics Practice Group. Alexandra is active in many philanthropic endeavors including serving on the planning committee for the Tampa Bay Relay for Life. As a CSO she believes food can be one of our biggest allies in the prevention of disease. Her philosophy surrounding food is all about balance and believes that all foods can fit within a healthy lifestyle. In her spare time, she loves to go boating and spend time with her husband, Andrew, and one year old baby boy, Carter.
